our town -Shivachevo

The town of Shivachevo is situated in the central part of South Bulgaria (at the foot of the Balkan) .It is 300 kilometers to the East of our capital Sofia .

We are very proud of the natural beauty, surrounding Shivachevo.

SOU ”George Karavelov” was founded in 1860.It was built in the church yard. The first students in 1888-1889 were only 24 boys. In 1892 a new building was built.

Shivachevo is situated in the West part of Sliven district .Its population is 5000 inhabitants.
It has been declared a town since 5th September 1984 .
It has been a cultural and economic centre since ancient times .An evidence of this are the great number of excavations founded in the remaining of an antique building in the area dating since III century .Fully preserved till nowadays are lots of pieces of pottery like ancient vases . has always been of great significance for its historical ,cultural and economic development .
Thanks to the suitable rich brown soil and pastures the region has a well developed agriculture too .The region is also rich of precious natural resourses that were not known in the past but discovered nowadays . A spring of mineral water has been found recently in the mountain to the North of the town . It will be bottled and used for the needs of greenhouses planting too.
Shivachevo has 25 000 decares of cultivated land .
4500 decares of it are vineyards mostly from the sorts of kaberne and merlo .(1300dec),red misket (540 decares )pamid(320 ) and others (440 dec)
Cherry gardens take 400 dec of the total area ,apples- 600 dec ,peaches- 600 and plums -100 dec ,vegetables -1000 dec and crops -10 000 dec
If you come to visit Shivachevo you will be attracted by the Natural beauty of the Balkan mountain the calmness and quietness of the splendid picnic sites long the two local rivers -Belenska and Bliagornitsa .You can also visit the ‘Jrebchevo “dam that is nearby .It is a nice place for fishing during all seasons .
2 km to the North of the town is the so called “pioneers’camp”-a favourite place for picnic and relaxation of the local people.
